Merhaba! cette sayfa is multilingue, like my mind*
Thanks for visiting my site. I work in many languages across disciplines. I hope this page will help you navigate across my work and activities.
Merci de votre visite. Je travaille dans plusieurs langues à travers diverses disciplines littéraires et artistiques. J'espère que cette page vous aidera à découvrir mon travail.
I am an intersectional feminist. I advocate for diversity, equality, representation. My interest is in challenging official narratives and advocating freedom of expression. Everything I do is fuelled by my values and perspective on the world.
I write poetry in English, which I read at open mic nights. My poetry has been inspired by my reading of Fatima El Tayeb's book European Others: Queering Ethnicity in Postnational Europe.
I am currently working on a screenwriting project for TV entitled: The Secret Life of Ayşe C. I have presented the project to professionals in the Netherlands and have received a lot of interest. I am now actively seeking a screenwriting agent while also writing the script and finalising the series bible.
Je travaille sur un livre présentant ma réflexion personnelle sur la traduction.
I care about process. J'aime autant travailler sur écran que sur papier. Je passe de l'un à l'autre sans cesse. J'ai de nombreux carnets dans lesquels je dessine, j'écris et je fais des collages. Cette manière de travailler m'aide à penser et à créer.
As part of the process I create playlists on Spotify. Sometimes, they act as soundtracks to my writing, they tell a story or simply act as mood boards and inspiration.
Türkçe düşünüyorum, hayal kuruyorum, konuşuyorum, çalışıyorum, Türkçe'den çeviriyorum - fakat yazmıyorum. Yazdığım zaman kalemime ilk gelen diller Fransızca ve İngilizce.
some of my work:
My ongoing artistic exploration of languages in urban spaces: City in Translation (started as a residency at Copenhagen University)
Ma résidence avec La Contre Allée à Lille, où j'ai animé des ateliers et des rencontres littéraires.
My collaborative translation on the poetry collection History-Geography by Karin Karakaşlı (with Sarah Howe), which initially started as workshops with the Poetry Translation Centre.
The many workshops I organise, making the writing and translation processes accessible to all.
My piece on "Raising LGBTQ Voices - A Dispatch from IDFA" (Sister-hood Mag, 5 December 2017).
My essay: "Dirty Language - Language, Sexism and Misogyny in Turkey" (The Time is Now, 18 May 2016).
The many interviews I make with people I admire (listed in writing)
